While boudoir might seem like a frivolous expense meant for the young, sexy, and skinny, I adamantly beg to differ, friend. There are many reasons to book a boudoir shoot and none of them have shit to do with how you look or what the scale says. As a matter of fact, booking your own boudoir shoot is more about how it can make you feel. So let’s get into it!
1. Celebrating Anything is a Good Reason to Book the Boudoir Shoot
Your birthday, graduation, anniversary, a Tuesday, anything. Celebrate it by doing boudoir. This moment deserves celebrating. Every meaningful moment does. Having a boudoir shoot where you bare it all can be a gift to yourself commemorating that moment. Future you will thank you for reminding her about the beauty, courage, and audacity in herself when she really needs a little encouragement.

2. Leaving a Situation
Leaving a situation – a relationship, a job, a friendship – can leave you feeling empty. You may feel vulnerable, sad, or conflicted. Booking your boudoir shoot will help you return to yourself. The act of making art where you’re the subject will give you intentional time to heal. You may feel peace in venting to your photographer. Your photos will be further proof as to why you were too good to stay in that situation in the first place. When you’re all done your photos will be a bittersweet reminder that everything happens for a reason but you’re still alive, beautiful, and kicking and ready to move on from that situation.

3. Starting over
Starting over may seem daunting. Whether you’re beginning a newly single life, starting your workout journey, or moving to a new place, starting over is a scary thought filled with unknowns. Leaving the comfort zone has never been easy, but when it’s time, it’s time. Booking a boudoir session to start this moment is the best thing you can do for yourself. Being vulnerable in front of the camera will give you good practice at getting out of that comfort zone. As a result, you’ll have all the evidence you need to know why starting over is going to bring you so much more joy.

4. Creating art
I know not a whole lot of people will say that they’ve had a craving to do a photo shoot, but it’s no different than painting, forming clay between your fingers, cooking, or drawing. Obviously, the main difference is that you’re the subject. Yah, I know, that sounds scary and intrusive, but since these photos can be just for you, you’ll be able to see yourself as a masterpiece, because you are a true work of art, lovely!

5. As a Gift
Now, you’re an adult and you know damn well that you don’t need any reason to buy a cake, candy, flowers, or book a boudoir shoot. You don’t need to explain to anybody why you do anything. But if you need any reason, it’s so that you can gift yourself or anyone else who deserves to see these parts of you. Because being this vulnerable with yourself is a gift for your psyche. You can order a calendar to remind yourself of your sensuality all year long. Maybe create a book to refer back to. If you feel comfortable with printing photos to have framed around your home, do that. A boudoir shoot will be the gift that will keep on giving throughout the years.

6. When You’re Pregnant
Our bodies are always changing, but especially when you’re pregnant. There’s something so incredible about growing another human body. Personally, when I was pregnant I never felt sexier and I regret not having done a boudoir shoot for myself. But even if you’re not feeling very sexy, doing a boudoir shoot can totally change that. Getting your makeup and hair done and choosing sexy things to wear (or maybe nothing at all) can help you see yourself in a different light. Those photos can carry you through the rougher patches of your pregnancy and provide you with a beautiful reminder of what it felt like when you were carrying around a whole human being in your body.

7. When You’re In a Funk
Nothing is worse than being in a funk. It stops you dead in your tracks. So if you’re a woman experiencing a slump right now, finding it hard to get out of bed, you aren’t feeling it right now, I know that feeling. I feel those things more than I care to admit. What I’ve found in other women who feel the same way who come to me in this capacity is that that all they needed were new sensations, to explore different things. Seeing the photos in the end just justify this therapy masked as art. When I take you on your own adventure this is all about you, it’s all about embracing this moment, it’s all about being present which can help anyone come out of a funk.

8. Because You’re a Mom
I’m just gonna say it – Moms are sexy too, damn it! Just because you’ve started raising children doesn’t mean your life ends and motherhood begins, you still have to find yourself in all of the chaos. So when you find yourself embracing motherhood and maybe even wifehood, you may not feel like there’s much time for yourself and you’re right. But that’s why should book the boudoir shoot so that you can take a moment to be sexy, to access the parts of yourself that hasn’t felt sexy in a while, and so you have the lasting memory when motherhood is motherhooding.

9. Book the Boudoir Shoot To Honor Your Future Self
This body of yours has done lots of work up until now, babe. You are a fierce embodiment of bravery, adventure, and courage. Your memories won’t last that long but they can if you book that boudoir session and photos to remind you of the incredible person that you are. Leave her with a lasting impression of your self-love. Be your own inspiration, because who is the best person to remind you of your dopeness than you.

10. To Check Off Your Bucketlist
First of all, I love being naked. But being naked in front of the camera is a bucket list item. Seriously, you might not have thought of it, but being naked in front of a camera is probably a scary thought, it’s adventurous and taboo, and the perfect thing to scratch off the list of things you should do before you die. And if you’re doing it adventurously, that might be all the reason to try it.
